Protecting your e-mail from SPAM e-mail and viruses is a challenge.
Here are some things which will help:
> Never use your personal e-mail address on a website, an Internet forum, or when signing up for newsletters online. Spammers use e-mail addresses harvested from webpages and chat forums.
> When you receive SPAM e-mail don't open it, or use the preview pane in Outlook - Spammers use code that automatically verifies your e-mail address when you open the message (hidden images etc) so you will get even more SPAM every time you view a SPAM e-mail.
> If you are already flooded with SPAM then consider changing your e-mail address. With Betterhosts e-mail control panels you can put an auto responder on your old address to notify senders of the change of address - Spammers will not pick up on this as the 'from' address on SPAM e-mail is fake.
> Software such as SpamPal www.spampal.org can automatically remove SPAM before it gets to your inbox.
> Install a good virus scanner - we recommend AVG which is free for personal use: free.grisoft.com

Our standard hosting is automatically configured to foward all e-mail to your current address as a catch-all, e.g. anything@yourdomain.tld will be forwarded to your e-mail address.
If you have installed an E-mail Control Panel you can set up the catch-all address by changing the 'nobody' fowarder to point to any e-mail address you like.

Yes this is possible, and easy to set up.
If you register a domain name with us and buy hosting with an e-mail control panel, you can set up unlimited variations of your domain name as an e-mail address:
you@yourdomain.co.uk
info@yourdomain.co.uk
..etc
You can set up e-mail addresses for yourself and all your friends and family based on your domain name.
You can access your mail via our webmail service from anywhere in the world, or simply use Outlook or any other POP3 e-mail client.

If you have full e-mail management, you can set up unlimited e-mail boxes, autoresponders and forwarders.
Once you have set up POP3 e-mail boxes on your domain with web based control panel you will need to use a POP3 compliant e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook to pick up and send e-mail messages.
To pickup e-mail you will need to enter the following settings into your e-mail client:
POP3 Server: mail.yourdomain.co.uk
Username: you@yourdomain.co.uk (Full e-mail address)
Password: as specified
SMTP Server: The SMTP server of your ISP, e.g. mail.btopenworld.com, if your internet access is provided by BT Internet.
In some cases your ISP may block attempts to send e-mails from any address other than your default e-mail, in this case you can still pick up e-mail, but you must use your default e-mail address to send messages. You can add your BetterHosts e-mail address in the 'reply-to' field in this case.

What are your limits on mailbox storage? |

 |
Each mailbox has a limit of 500 messages or 20MB of data. Once this limit is exceeded all mail will be rejected.
POP3 mailboxes are not intended as a permanent storage for e-mail messages. You should use a POP3 e-mail client such as MS Outlook to collect and store e-mail.
